I’m Marcos Alencar, a psychologist and psychoanalyst (CRP 06/30117), with over 20 years of experience listening to and working with people at different stages of life.
My path in psychoanalysis began at the age of 17, at the Jean Piaget Institute. I graduated in Psychology in 1989 and pursued postgraduate studies in Mental Health at the University of São Paulo (USP) School of Medicine. My clinical background also includes work at the Enfance Therapeutic Community, as well as ongoing psychoanalytic study, clinical supervision, and personal analysis.
My approach is rooted in psychoanalysis. Rather than following predetermined protocols, I work with each person’s history, relationships, conflicts, and recurring patterns, allowing the therapeutic process to develop at its own pace.
Alongside my clinical background, I spent many years as an executive and entrepreneur and studied strategy and innovation at MIT Sloan. This experience also informs my understanding of professional pressures, life transitions, and the complexities of living and working across different cultures.
Sessions are available in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

If you’re looking for an English-speaking therapist, the first conversation is an opportunity to talk about what brings you here and see whether this way of working makes sense for you.

Yes. Sessions are confidential, in accordance with the ethical standards of the Brazilian Federal Council of Psychology.
